Our Student Affairs field has experienced widespread growth, especially in the last few decades. From institutional challenges to our increasingly diverse student populations, SA practitioners are in a consistent state of evolution. We want you to help us explore the deep connections among each other in Student Affairs as we together will create space for your unheard story to be shared.

With the 2019 NASPA Western Regional Conference theme in mind "Building Bridges, Creating Connections," what have you learned in your SA journey about the importance of building bridges? How have you cultivated relationships, built communities, or inspired SA colleagues and students to overcome adversity?  What challenges and celebrations have you experienced that define the work you do? How do you inspire others while inspiring yourself? Our hope is for storytellers to engage in dialogue through love, warmth, humor, and respect to inspire social movements within higher education.

Call for Programs

SA Speaks — Student Affairs Speaks — are 10-minute TED-talk style presentations that offer presenters and participants an innovative look at topics that are near and dear to the student affairs profession.

Please Note: As part of your submission process, you will be asked to upload a 3-to-5-minute video discussing your SA Speaks Topic to YouTube as part of the submission process.

Stay tuned for the link to submit your SA Speaks proposal. In addition to your written proposal, given the unique platform of SA Speaks, you are required to submit a 3-5 minute video (a snap shot if you will) of what your story will entail.  The proposal deadline is June 7, 2019 at 11:59 pm (MST). Submissions will be reviewed and notifications will be sent out the week of July 1 - 5, 2019.

Tips on submitting your video:
  1. Have fun with your video. Reviewers will want to see you and how you will share your story.
  2. Your story matters – don’t think otherwise. Sharing your story is powerful and can help others grow and learn.
  3. Think TedTalk, without the research and facts. Just you and your story.

For questions or clarification, please contact Oliver Anderson, SA Speaks Subcommittee Chair at SASpeaks2019@gmail.com. Thank you in advance for your submissions, and we look forward to seeing you in Portland!
