Region IV-West and Region IV-East will come together as one in the heart of downtown Saint Louis in the historic Union Station. The 2016 Joint Regional Conference is a three-day gathering of student affairs professionals from two regions who come together to learn, network, and be inspired.

When Union Station was dedicated in September 1894, it was bigger than the largest railway station in Europe. It predated New York’s Grand Central Station by almost a decade, and its beauty stunned thousands of travelers every day. St. Louis Fun Run Routes

Running makes you happy and strong. This fun run/walk will make you laugh and help you meet colleagues across the regions. All fitness levels are welcome to the Region IV-WE run to the arch and back! There will be a path for runners and a shorter path for those who want to walk. The first 145 participants will receive a free 3/4 sleeve t-shirt celebrating this fun event. We also have surprise selfie breaks throughout the race (one at the arch) and ribbons for the winners---it is an event you won't want to miss.

Mid-Level Professionals Institute This Mid-Level Institute (MLI) is intended to provide an intensive professional development experience that broadens participant’s perspectives on higher education issues, renews commitment to the profession and explores creative leadership strategies. It is intended for professionals with a minimum of five years full-time experience and supervisory, budget and/or programming responsibilities for a department. The Institute model includes faculty-lead teams, case studies, small group discussions and personal reflection time.

Come join other IV-West and IV-East Senior Student Affairs Officers and Associate/Assistant Vice Presidents/Provosts for a day-long institute designed to challenge and inspire. The institute will include a Presidents Panel, “hot issue’ roundtable topics, discussion on forming and nurturing a strong relationship between the SSAO and AVP, and more. Lunch is included with the institute and space is limited to 80 participants. Attendees should currently serve as the Senior Student Affairs Officer on their campus or report directly to a SSAO. Faculty members attending the IV W/E conference are also welcomed and encouraged to register.

The NUFP and SALT Institute teams have come together to provide this one and a half day pre-conference for undergraduate participants as a joint program. This pre-conference serves as a way to augment the experiences of undergraduate students as they are being mentored and engaged into the field of Higher Education Student Affairs. Throughout this institute a number of activities, sessions and panels will be offered to assist them in the discernment process of their future career in Student Affairs.

Resilience is more than just managing stress, it’s learning the skills to take life events in stride and to grow and learn from our experiences. Healing and strengthening, Resilience offer participants the space and time to begin to focus on how their lives impact their ability to lead, and the tools they need to strengthen their awareness day to day. LeaderShape’s newest program, Resilience, is a 1-day experience for student affairs professionals based on the research of Dr. Amit Sood that explores resilient leadership and how it builds strong, flexible relationships and communities.

In light of heightened awareness, shifting guidance and a rise in investigations, institutions of higher education must train their Title IX professionals to effectively investigate and resolve alleged incidents of sex and gender discrimination, sexual harassment and interpersonal violence. You and your institution have laid the groundwork with policies, programs and basic training on compliance with Title IX, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and the Clery Act. This presentation will focus on sexual misconduct investigations and compliance guidance under Title IX, VAWA and the Clery Act.

This event, during the joint IV-W and IV-E Regional Conference, will provide an opportunity for women in student affairs to socialize and hear from outstanding women in the field providing words of inspiration in the hopes of supporting our female colleagues at all levels of their career. Phenomenal women, we believe to be role models in the field, will provide a 5 minute prepared SA Speaks style presentation to participants about lessons learned, motivation, inspiration, or anything else she might feel would be beneficial in sharing with women as they make the journey of their career path. Registration cost for this event is $15 per person which includes a variety of desserts and a beverage of your choice. A cash bar will be available throughout the event.
