Pre-Conference Programs & Events

New Professional Institute (NPI)

Sunday, November 5th • 04.00 PM – 10.00 PM

Sunday, November 5th - Tuesday, November 7th

View More Details

This year’s Regional Conference titled “Cultivating a New Crop” in Lincoln, Nebraska will feature a New Professionals Institute (NPI) taking place Sunday November 5th- Tuesday November 7th.

This year’s faculty bring together multiple decades of experience and a wide array of backgrounds to share and encourage the next generation of student affairs professionals. As new professionals, learning to maneuver a work environment, whether transition from a graduate program or different field, can often be intimidating and overwhelming. NPI faculty will help to address some of the following questions:

  • How can I still be an advocate and voice for a cause when my work environment is not always supportive?
  • How do I manage and take care of self when there is so little time to do so?
  • What are the appropriate avenues to support student causes if I am the professional?
  •  Where can I make the most impact in speaking up for my students?

NPI is an opportunity for student affairs professionals who have been in the field for 5 years or less to network, learn, and grow together. This intimate setting provides a space to share and express concerns faced by new professionals. True to the conference theme, NPI is essential to strengthening and building pathways to continue and foster the future of the profession. Cultivating a New Crop starts with building a foundation of strong, competent, effective professionals to lead the way. We feel confident NPI will assist in this process in a fundamental way.
