Scholarly Paper Sessions

These sessions give presenters the opportunity to share their scholarly or research paper. These papers are reviewed and selected by members of our Faculty Fellows and Faculty Council, and are assigned a discussant prior to the conference. Each 50-minute session will have three to four scholars present their paper and will be followed by comments from a discussant, as well as a facilitated question and answer session.

Scholarly papers often focus on results of quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods studies, or report the finding of studies that use historical or philosophical methods.

In the submission process, you will be asked to submit an abstract (approximately 75 words), a 1000-2000 word overview of your research, organizing theme(s) of your paper, as well as the methodological approach (qualitative, quantitative, etc.). As you start the submission, you will be guided through the process and find more in-depth instructions. For those conducting original research, Scholarly Paper submissions do not need to reflect completed research projects. However, the research and written paper will need to be completed by early January so that it can be shared with the discussant well before the NASPA conference. .

Sessions offer an opportunity for new and established scholars to explore emerging and relevant areas of research. For NASPA 2017 in San Antonio, participants are encouraged to consider "BIG" research issues and topics that are impacting our work in higher education today.
