Your first-time attendee committee is excited to help prepare you for your first NASPA Annual Conference experience and is available to provide insights along the way. The FTA Committee is made up of volunteers whose goal is to orient new conference attendees to the opportunities available at the annual conference and within the NASPA organization regardless of your professional level. 

The First-Time Attendee Network is a new and innovative way to make the most of the NASPA conference experience while also learning how to make your mark within the larger association. Our goal is to orient new conference attendees to the opportunities available at the annual conference and within the NASPA organization.

First-time Attendee Sessions at #NASPA17:

As a first-time attendee to the NASPA Annual Conference, you are automatically enrolled in the FTA Network. Your first-time attendee committee is made up of volunteers whose goal is to orient new conference attendees to the opportunities available at the annual conference and within the NASPA organization regardless of your professional level. 

  • First-Time Attendee Lounge

    Open all day,  Sunday - Wednesday

    In this area, take time to relax, network, and get to know new colleagues. Interested in finding individuals to dine with over breakfast, lunch, or dinner? Show up here and start networking. This space is exclusive to first-time attendees, so feel free to engage with anyone else in the lounge.
  • First-Time Attendee Orientation & Faculty-specific Orientation
    Convention Center - Hemisfair Ballroom, Section C3
    Sunday, March 12 - 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

    During this must attend orientation, first-time attendees will learn tips and tricks to making the most of their NASPA conference experience, as well as start networking with individuals like themselves. Although you may have attended other professional conference, it is helpful to learn the nuances of NASPA

    Faculty-specific Orientation

    Sunday, March 12 - 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

    Faculty newcomers attending the NASPA Conference for the first time will receive general conference information in an informal setting, have the opportunity to receive information pertinent for faculty attendees, engage with members of the NASPA Faculty Council, and network with other new faculty to the NASPA Conference.
  • Navigating the NASPA Annual Conference as a VPSA

    Sunday, March 12, 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

    Are you a VPSA who is attending the NASPA Annual Conference for the first time or a seasoned attendee who is attending for the first time as a VPSA? If so, attend this informal session to help you get the most out of your conference experience.

    Were you unable to attend the first-time attendee orientation session? Don't worry, we have you covered. Start off your Monday morning with an abbreviated version of the FTA Orientation to prepare yourself fully for #NASPA17

    Catch up with colleagues you met yesterday and learn how to navigate the Communities and Grad Prep Fair from seasoned NASPA Attendees.
  • Conference Debrief

    Tuesday, March 14 - 5:45 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.

    Reflect with your newly acquired friends and colleagues on your past few days and learn how to continue the learning after the conference. Also hear from leaders of the 2018 Conference Leadership Committee on why you should attend next year in Philadelphia for our 100th Anniversary.
